SCUBA diving and technical SCUBA diving can be fulfilled with the best Dive Instruction, the best Dive Equipment and the best Dive Experiences. At SALT we have taken a new approach to dive training in Australia, providing un-paralelled service, Dive Instruction of the highest quality with highly experienced instructors.

SALT has also re-introduced Technical SCUBA diving to Townsville, offering TDI and the full range of PADI/DSAT Technical Diving programs. These challenging courses will take you beyond recreational depths and introduce you to advanced diving techniques and equipment, as well as open up a whole new world of diving opportunities.

SALT scuba diving offers a full range of First Aid Training and support products, such as Workplace compliant First Aid courses, Workplace Oxygen administration, Automated External Defibrillator training, Care for Children courses and supply of Workplace compliant first aid kits and Automated external defibrillators.

SALT recognises that different divers have different needs, with this in mind we have created the “Salt Scuba Club” a dive club with options! For the more Mature Diver we have the “Old Salt” dive group and for the Ladies, the girls only group “Pink Salt”. At SALT scuba diving we are very passionate about the environment, our shop has Fitted out using only renewable and recycled materials and uses LED lighting.

Our Dive shop and training facility are open on Charters Towers Road opposite La Porchettas, we are open Tuesday-Friday  9am to 6pm Saturday and Sunday 10am to 3pm and closed on Mondays.  The dive club meets every Wednesday for drinks and a feature presentation from 6pm till 8pm, everyone is welcome, divers and non divers we look forward to seeing you.

Matt Dee

Matt together with his extraordinary partner Caitlin owns and runs SALT scuba diving. Matt is a PADI Course Director, the highest rank and instructor can attain, a Tech diving Instructor, First Aid Instructor Trainer, qualified SCUBA technician and an accomplished underwater photographer and film maker.

Matt Has been diving for over 18 years, and teaching diving for over 12 years. During his years in the dive industry Matt has developed a firm belief that dive training requires 4 things to work, a passionate educator with a depth of knowledge beyond basic topics & superb attitude, a fantastic learning environment where students can feel relaxed and welcome, top of the line equipment that is reliable, innovative and comfortable and lastly opportunity for divers to use the skills they have learned through local dives, inter state and international dive expeditions.

Matt’s passion for diving has only grown through his experience, and he loves to share his enthusiasm, pop in to the shop for a quick chat and a cuppa and your sure to hear some great stories or learn a fascinating fact.
